Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme funds outstanding students worldwide to pursue PhDs at Hong Kong universities such as HKU, CUHK, HKUST and PolyU. It is open to applicants of any nationality, selected on academic and research excellence.

Initial RGC portal deadline 1 Dec 2026, 12:00 noon HKT. Then apply to universities.

What it covers

  • Annual stipend of HK$344,400
  • Annual conference and research travel allowance of HK$14,400
  • Host universities may waive tuition

Who can apply

  • Any nationality (Pakistanis eligible)
  • Outstanding academic record
  • Research ability
  • Applying to a full-time PhD at a participating university
